Realizing the extent of your progress can be powerful – our alumna Nguyen Thuy Quynh – class of 2022, has experienced her growing journey for three years since graduation! Her journey has been a whirlwind of exciting marketing experiences, from the fast-paced agency world at Admicro to the client-focused environments of FrieslandCampina and Nestlé.
Quynh’s career path started with her curiosity
You might wonder what drives someone to make such a bold career move so early on. For Quynh, it was simple: pure curiosity. She jumped into her first role at Admicro, where she got her hands on all sorts of marketing projects. But something kept nagging at her – what was happening on the other side of the fence?
“I felt curious about the other side of marketing – how it’s like observing the market and marketing activities from the client perspective,” she says, laughing about her decision to switch to a Management Trainee position. That move opened up a whole new world in FMCG branding, where she found herself juggling cross-department projects and diving deep into brand strategy.
When asked about her most rewarding experiences, Quynh’s eyes light up.
“Looking back, I’m proud of my courage to try new things and my resilience to stick with my decisions.”
Talking about her proudest moments, and she doesn’t mention big campaigns or flashy presentations. Her eyes lit up when she talked about the personal victories – moving to a new city, pushing through those late-night work sessions, and facing challenges head-on.
Even the seemingly mundane tasks turned into learning opportunities. Take her early days reviewing product packaging labels – what started as a simple “spot-the-difference” exercise became a crash course in marketing fundamentals. “This experience taught me that an open mind and curiosity unlock endless learning,” she says with a grin.
Looking back at her BUV days, Quynh sees how everything connects.
Those late nights preparing final presentations taught her how to think on her feet. The TEDx and Debate Club meetings gave her the confidence to speak up in corporate meetings.
Three years in, you can still hear the enthusiasm in her voice when she talks about her work. Her advice to current students comes from the heart: “Embrace boldness and go after your ambition! Challenge yourself and set significant goals to maintain your momentum.”
With all the experiences she has been through and all the challenges ahead, Quynh continues to embrace it while still staying grounded in her values. Her journey shows that success isn’t just about climbing the career ladder – it’s about growing and learning with each step forward.
