The ‘First Desk Crew’: A Decade of Friendship – Nguyen Thanh Cuong and Tran Bich Phuong

Paying forward is a value embraced by the entire BUV community, including our alumni. That’s why Cuong and Phuong, two close friends, gathered at BUV to share their experiences with students.
Cuong and Phuong were recipients of the HRH Prince Andrew Scholarship (now known as British Ambassador Scholarship) in 2012. After nearly a decade, they have remained in touch (with the whole “First Desk crew” – Hội Bàn Đầu) and continued to support the BUV community.
Phuong has pursued an academic research career, focusing on health economics and health science research at institutions across Asia, Africa, and Europe. She is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Oxford, UK.
Cuong has followed his passion for education and human development. He has dedicated 8 years to coaching and teaching and is now leading. Coaching Việt Nam to help his clients achieve their academic goals faster.
Despite living in different parts of the world, Cuong and Phuong made time to reconnect and come back to visit BUV, where they recently delivered the workshop “Alumni Tips for Postgrad Scholarship Applications” to current students.
Seeing them share their stories and insights with younger students is incredibly inspiring.
